Welcome to the MMS Counseling Office

School counselors are involved with counseling, coordination and consulting among administration, staff, parents, students, and the community. We support students in attaining social, academic and personal goals.  We help parents/guardians understand school requirements and act as an advocate for students. At the middle school level, counselors work with students individually and in groups to address topics such as study skills, social skills, and self-concept. Counselors also help coordinate services in conjunction with the school psychologist and Committee on Special Education for students with disabilities. We encourage parent/guardian involvement and work together with parents and students to give every child the best opportunity for success.

School Counseling Mission Statement

The MCSD school counseling department's mission is to support students academically, socially, and behaviorally while also assisting them in reaching their full potential to become healthy and productive citizens of our community.

School Counseling Vision Statement

The MCSD school counseling program will nurture our whole school community by advocating for our students, removing barriers to learning, and creating a welcoming and safe environment where students feel valued.  The school counseling team will prepare students to be college and career ready, while also acquiring the social skills and emotional intelligence to to effectively tackle the challenges of an ever-changing global society.

Helpful Information

A referral list and resource list are available under the School Counseling Forms and Publications tab and provides a list of numerous community resources for any family who needs assistance from an outside agency.  Please browse this list for help with emergency financial assistance, mental health issues, domestic abuse, substance abuse, eating disorders, or a referral to an outside therapist.  We are very fortunate in Dutchess County to have a variety of agencies to help with our every need.
